Renthal Handlebars - post 'em if you've got 'em
« on: August 02, 2012, 04:19:47 PM »
So I'm going to order some bars online...what rise are you guys running? I'm guessing the Ultra lows are the way to go?

If you have them, what ones, and please post a pic if possible...do you like the bars?

Thanks

Does the bar have to be aluminium? Any Euro or Superbike bar is very close to those dimensions at half the price.

I have the same (superbike)  bars.

They are a nice, wide bar, perfect for a 70s superbike.  Plenty of control in the corners and no hand/wrist fatigue after a day of riding.

I've been looking into a set of Renthal bars for a while. They're a little bit too expensive to justify replacing my clip-ons for now, as I have more important stuff to spend on.

So I have a set of Ultra Low twinwall Renthal bars sitting and waiting to be used, and I found something interesting on them.  They are not hollow all the way through.  On each end, maybe 6" into the bar, there is a solid chunk of aluminum inside the bar.  Makes me wonder how many more baffles there will be when I drill them to route the controls - anyone else run into this?

That is good to know....I was thinking of running bar-end signals...maybe its not possible with the Renthals?

Not sure.  If its not too thick, could just drill through.

in terms of drilling, I would be extra careful with the aluminum... people hesitate to do it on bicycles let alone motorbikes. Make sure you miter/file those edges and make really clean round holes to minimize any stress risers so that it wont crack and possibly break when you hit that unexpected pothole.

Well, I got 'em finally...and I learned a bunch. The main thing to take note of is that the inner diameter of the bars in smaller than regular steel bars

I have Road- UltraLows that will be going on my CB and I will nee to shave material off the triple trees as the clamp tightens all the way down and the bars still move slightly

I also learned that Renthal Grips are really short.  Not using them on the Ducati...maybe the Honda, will have to see

The bars are very nice and the finish seems to be bomb-proof. I had to mount and remount the bars on my Ducati to re-route the control cable multiple times and the black finish ddi not mark up at all...impressive

Yeah - I went with a steel powder coated bar with the identical bend for the 750 - I want to internally route the controls.  Still have my Renthal Ultra Low kicking around - I may use it on the F7.
Looks great there SKTP!
