Deer me
« on: August 05, 2012, 04:38:01 PM »
As I was riding along, I noticed a deer crossing sign next to the highway approaching a wooded area. Several miles further, at the end of the wooded area, there was another deer crossing sign facing the other way. It made me wonder why, if deer can be trained to stay between the signs, why can't they be trained to stay away from the road in the first place?

deer come to the road edge for fresh forage/new growth. deer cossing signs are put up in know deer crossing areas due to the lay of the land.
also deer do not always pay attention to such stufff as signs. ;) ;)

yes that would if you hit one. close to the size of a deer. live in zew zealand for a year and saw and swerved to miss many hares on the way home from work late at nite. hares are not your average "bunny". big guys that will do some damage to a car or bike. they can not read signs either. :)

I saw a documentary once showing a huge frog migration and the skid hazard they posed to traffic. Big bastards too. Would that have been Australia?
