OK, here goes....

I'm collecting parts for a twin engine street/strip bike as a tribute to RC's Sorcerer.
The pic of that motor in "race bikes" thread here is the inspiration, and although I'm not building for Nitro, the engine layout is the basis for my build.
This WILL get driven on the street (of course not a daily driver...lol), as well as occasional squirts down the dragstrip and maybe even a few passes @ the Ohio Mile for some LSR racing!

So far I'm just mocking up the cases and getting driveline in position.
I'm picking up some cases this week to get started. An old friend came by this weekend with the blower for the project, an Eaton M90 from a T-bird Supercoupe.

My plan is big bore stroker. 70mm bore and CB900F cranks for 1064cc per motor.
Blower will mount low and under the manifold just like Sorcerer. External dry sump pump and alternator. Trans is a tossup between a Baker HD style or a Lenco 2 speed. i'm leaning toward the Lenco.
Rear cylinder will be reversed to keep intakes between motors.

I know I'm going to need a lot of advice when the actual engine build begins. i have lots of experience building solid motors and horsepower, just not on these motors.

For now, getting the motors in position (with cranks for engine phasing) will be the first step. Removing trans cases, building motor plates, primary chain passage that will also serve as mid motor support along with outer motor plates to keep motors stable and reduce deflection of cases and cranks.

So far just the blower pics as received. It will get polished and some mods to the outlet passages, Throttle body and associated sensors from MPFI small block Chevy, EFI via Megasquirt, dry sump by Moroso, GM alternator to keep things fired.
Ignition is undecided, might be via V-8 Magneto, might be electronic via MSD V-8 dizzy or coil on plug. The mag is a killer visual as the sorcerer pics show, as well as the fact that it doesn't draw current that the EFI system needs to function (had to add another battery to my friiend's 10.5 outlaw car due to large demands on the power supply/battery).

Lots of ideas but I think I have a fun project on my hands.
Any feedback is appreciated. This will be a true learning process from the git-go and I hope y'all enjoy watching it come together.

25+ years of fabrication experience in automotive prototype and high end Drag Racing.
I have Lathe, 2 axis CNC mill and 2 TIG welders in my shop. (another manual mill is for sale).

I know this is an ambitious project, and I know it's going to take at least a few years to bring it together. More a money issue than anything else.

I hear RC's son is restoring the original Sorcerer, would love to get a pic of my build parked next to the real thing!!! Man's gotta have a few goals in life...lol
Does anyone know any details of this resto build of Sorcerer?

I'm pretty OK with the major fabrication, it's when the internal build starts that I'll be asking lots of questions :D  And that's when the dollars start flying.


Sam, I don't think I can afford to even get the bike to England (from Michigan) much less be legal to ride there...LOL... Besides ya only need a 1/4 mile!!!!

It would have to go through a special construction test but the bigest problem would be trying to find someone to insure it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sam, now I'm gonna be glued to the monitor reading that thread instead of out in the shop cleaning and putting up shelves. I got lost in a 95 page thread about Denver Mullins and Denver's Choppers a few weeks ago...lol... He loved our SOHC motors!

Scrambler, the lenco IS an auto as far as shifting. Clutch is just a launch device :)
For lack of a better reason, Lenco is a drag racing trans, this is a drag bike, match made in heaven. I've been around fuel bikes and they use them. I've serviced them in a ProMod car for years as my day job, so I'm very familiar with making them work and keeping them alive.
Also without unit trans, I'm free to rotate motors to suit timing and phasing of the motors as well as space available for blower and other accessories, and still make the "V" symetrical.

After the first 10 pages of ATS restore thread.... Dayum only 40 more....
I'm kinda putting together, or rather defining what is in my mind.
Sorcerer's blown V8 in ATS chassis.
Keep in mind, this ain't gonna be a nitro bike, just an evil street bully that looks like one :)
I think the more conventional backbone frame will be more conducive to what I had envisioned, and way easier to ride on the street.
Not a copy, more a roadgoing tribute.
I'll leave the real deal to Jr. and I'd be honored to see mine next to his!
Just more incentive to follow this one through!

All I  can say is WOW!!!
I knew this was going to be a big build, but reading the restoration thread, I gotta do this right!
BTW, this twin motor idea has been floating around my head for years, originally using XS650 for the motors. Another friend in Washington is building one now :)
I've since gotten out of the Yammy scene, still have a few, but I like these SOCHs so much, that is the platform I decided on.
Pics in the race bikes thread and especially the one of Sourcerer, cemented in my mind what the motor would be.

Now I'm just in awe of watching the real thing come back to life while I'm using it as inspiration for my own build. The enormity is sinking in and it's only driving me harder!

Now I gotta go do brakes on the wife's car and finish the shop so I can start machining cases and motor plates :)

I'll post pics as soon as anything more happens.
Should have 2 cases by weekend, meanwhile I'm re-arranging my shop so I can be productive instead of tripping over stuff.

My mill got delivered in cold of winter so I just planted it and wired it up where it fit so I could work. Now it needs it's own home... right where the lathe is...lol
I'll post pics of the shop when it's cleared out and settled.
Not much, just a 2.5 car attached garage with a few machines and welders.

Picked up 2 cases today, ready to start with the surgery! Bandsaw... check!

The guy with the cases has a twin motor Triumph that has never seen the track. Kid came along mid build and you know, racing doesn't wait, and they outlawed multi motor bikes...
It's got stock motors now but it does run, first kick, and it sees a little bit of street use for local shows and whatnot. I might try and get him to let me make some passes on it :D

Anyway, one more bit of progress, pics when the cutting begins. now I need 2 cylinder blocks and 1 head in order to mock up blower manifold and get the motor plates started. Plywood until I get everything located... oil pump, alternator, clutch/trans.
But enough to start building the chassis around the powertrain.
