Is this too much fuel line?
« on: August 10, 2012, 05:48:13 PM »
Taking up from the fuel line thread that has evolved into a vender listing about where to get good fuel line, I thought I'd photograph what I did and ask if this is too much.

After the post on fuel line shifted to a discussion about venders, I realized that the day I got the bike, I ordered a bunch of random stuff from Z1 and it came yesterday. Among the things i ordered was "clear fuel line 3/16" ID 5/16" OD." This fit nicely onto my carbs and I hope solved my problem.

Now I wonder if I used too much. I wanted a lot of slack so that I could move the tank around a bit.

How does it look? Is this safe.

Also, that spill-over line coming from the tank is only about a foot long, so it drains down onto my transmission. Should I get more and thread it out over the swingarm? If so, what size is that one?

wont that line get pinched when u put the tank on the frame? as long as there no kinks or any line going above where the fuel comes out u should be good. fuel is partly gravity feed

Way too much fuel line there mate, you want as straight a run down (always downward, if it goes up you'l get an airlock and it'll conk out) to the carbs. Good to see you using an inline filter, but if the one on your petcock is in good condition, it's largely unnecessary, so if you ditch it, it'll be easier to get a short straight run to your carbs. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

It is completely gravity fed.
