Bikemaster O-Ring Chain
« on: July 02, 2006, 07:05:18 PM »
Bikemaster chains. Are they good? They're cheap. Anyone have any conventional wisdom or experience with this brand?

Old bike barn has a cheaper chain that's "heavy duty" but I want an O-ring because I don't want much stretch/maintinance. So I'll get this Bikemaster chain pending the brand doesn't flag any negative reputability from the community here. . .

Thanks guys

I've used Bikemaster standard chains in the past with no problems. They seem to make good chains, although I've never used their o-ring chains.

I've never heard of them, but if they're Japanese, they're probably OK. Don't think that an "O" ring chain will last longer, or require less maintenance than a non "O" ring chain though, the grease in an O ring chain only protects the insides of the rollers, so you still need to lube the outsides. "Non O Ring" chains are cheaper, and in my opinion, just as good, and on older bikes like ours, more than adequate.

"Old Bike Barn" are advertising new Keihin CR31mm carbs for $699.95 as one of their newest catalogue items, so I emailed them to ask if they have them in stock, because Sudco say there are none in the US, and I tell OBB that I am hesitant just to order a set from them and pay in advance as they have something of a poor reputation on this site and my other favourite site, "The GS Resources" for advertising items that they have no stock of, and being unable or very slow to supply, etc etc.

I got an email back the next day saying that OOB haven't been in business for 25 years for screwing their customers around etc etc, but then they admitted that they had no stocks of any Keihin CR carbs. Make up your own mind about them, but I suggest that they aren't the kinda guys I want to entrust with my money............. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
