tomorrow is like christmas and birthday for me
« on: September 27, 2012, 10:02:32 PM »
i get my machined parts back for my springer front end for my chopper. had to have a neck stem made and axle for my invader wheel modified, woo! hoo! i can't wait. my predictions for tomorrow are going to be "I'm not feeling well i need to go home". i'll get it all put together for one last go over to see what i like and don't like.then start taking her apart again.so my son can do his psychedelic paint job magic on her. he asked what color i want.i told him listen to jimi hendrix voo doo child and that's the color i want. so far i got tangerine orange, oriental blue, magenta, organic green and a root beer. i might get either some spanish gold or pagan gold. the base will be silver and metal flake. i'm excited

Is your front end completely custom made? I helped a buddy design and build one for his mini chopper; very interesting.

Killer Canary - I might be interested in procuring your services for a custom front end myself :)  I'm building a rigid XS650 on a custom frame and want a girder or springer front end for it, but it's really really low.  If this is something you might be able to help with let me know.

We did this using said buddy's former employer's machine shop. The problem has always been getting access to machine tools. A girder fork (from what I've seen) should be simpler; cutting and welding tubing, less machining. I'd love to give it a go if you were nearby! I'll see if I have any pictures left of the springer in my documents.

here is what it look like now. tomorrow I'm putting my invader front rim on it.my son gave me 2 weeks to ride it around before he wants it dismantled so he can start painting.so i guess i'll have to go talk to my guy that does chrome and have the springer redone,my sissy bar,and a few other parts.

I love choppers! I'd put different handlebars on it though. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Agreed Terry.  Kinda bicyclist.  This is one cool build.

i don't know what kind of bars to get. I've been looking around for some 70's style bars.the prices are just outrageous for a set of bars. plus i haven't ordered my extended cables yet.and those are the only bars i have that will work right now.

Just my opinion, I think flat bars would be killer. Is that a 21" wheel?

Looks fantastic mate. The look nowadays is a set of flat bars like KC mentioned, but back in the day, riding a chop was all about that "laid back" look, so a nice set of pull backs would be good.

The current "wind-sock" look is really uncomfortable, that's why I laughed so hard when watching "Biker Buildoff" where they made Jesse James and co ride their bikes long distances across country, they looked like they were in agony! (I bet they didn't ride them back..........) ;D

Great minds think alike mate, that's exactly what I was thinking! ;D
