First real ride
« on: October 20, 2012, 02:13:37 PM »
Today was my first real ride with my 750. It's the first time I have ridden more than 20 miles and not had it breakdown. I took it for a nice 65 mile trip through the beautiful foliage in New England.

It ran great.  Zero issues. I kept my RPMs between 3k & 5k most of the time.  Cruising in the 4000 range. Every now and then I brought it up to a little over 6k.  It was smooth and fun.  It's been years since I had such a nice ride.

Maybe I should keep it.  :)

Good to hear Magilla. I had read your other thread about the issues you had and was hoping you would get them sorted out.

Isn't it amazing how a bike or anything for that matter can push you to your wits end to the point you're ready to toss in the towel and get rid of it then all of a sudden it runs like you want/expect it to and that feeling of disgust disappears and you start thinking "hey, I think I like this thing ". Yep I know the feeling.

Sure you are going to keep it.  You just don't know that for certain yet!
Take her for another leaf looking ride, this time stop along the way where
the colors and scenery are striking, snap you a calendar quality photo of the bike.
Better yet, get someone to snap the picture for you with you behind the bike.
Come home, print out a 5 X 7, place it on your computer desk where you look at
it frequently.  Give the bike a name to personalize it and in a few days you will
be saying, "why did I ever consider selling Irene?"  You get the idea.

Just yanking your leg a bit Magilla.  Its time now to enjoy your bike.  Ride her.

Great, but wait a minute - the other day you went 20 miles, and when you stopped to turn around there was some "steam" or white smoke coming from.... I don't recall - something about the crankcase vent tube ...
 But you rode it home.
 Then you posted about it.
So what was the deal there ? Just humidity from sitting ? (as others postulated for you)

Not being a jerk just saying that's the second ride where it did not break down.

 Second ride magilla, second ride.

Everyone loved his blue paint color choice in the rate your ride thread and it's very minty, so there's like no way it's going anywhere.
His wife probably already called their lawyer and had it added to the Will.  ;D

ps- I withdraw the " your mechanic sucks " comment since the (same mech) cranky advance retap has held rock solid.

On the first ride I cut it short due to thinking it might be broken. Yesterday was the first ride where NOTHING went wrong.

I guess the judges will have to decide this one.

The issue seems to just be condensation from sitting.  I rode it yesterday and today with no white smoke.

Ok just wondered, I never saw what it was for sure and saw how you used the 20 mile limiter thing- LOL, so good that it was just condensation apparently as some said, not some crossed up hose issue or whatever.

So hey, like not bad you really did get an ok one that now looks great. A couple days coming up this week they say high enough riding temps yet. Tu We Th here  ;D
