72 CB750 feels like it has only 4 gears.
« on: October 23, 2012, 08:11:34 PM »
I picked up a 72 CB750 motor to replace my 77 motor that was trash IMO. I currently am tearing down the 72 motor and was messing with the tranny. All I did was take the cover off and put vice grips on the shift pedal pev to move through the gears. It felt like it would go into 1,N,2,3. Then I'd try again and it would feel like 1,2,3,N. Not really sure. I have no experience with bikes whatsoever. If someone could give me some insight that would be great!

Yes PLEASE. Do not try to shift it without turning the drive sprocket. You'll bend something for sure.
