Nickel plating
« on: July 06, 2006, 07:13:24 PM »
Recently while browsing the web I came across a site where a guy was talking about doing his own plating at home. Interesting...
I did more digging and discovered it's actually quit simple.

http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/zinc.htm           Check this site out. These guys sell kits to get you started. There are two types of kits. One requires electricty for the electoplate. One is purely a heat / chemical action.  The truth is.. All you really need is the plating solution and the anode. Copper, Nickel, Zinc whatever. Anything else you need, could be aquired locally.

http://www.rjsintl.com/welcome.asp  And check this this site out..The hardest part of any of this is finding the plating solution.
These guys sell just the solution and the Anodes at a very good price. Dirt cheap.  They do however tack on a $25.00 hazarous material charge per quart of solution.

In find the idea of being able to Zinc and Nickel plate small parts in my garage quit intesting. I'm off to spend some money.
