Rebels!
« on: November 07, 2012, 07:48:40 PM »
I'm not typically the rebellious type, but I am building a cafe racer, a motorcycle, a symbol of rebellion. So I came up with a tank design I really like, and I was wondering what you guys would think if you saw a black and blue cafe racer rolling around with this on the tank:

Kidding aside I agree with seanbarney.  Dave500 has a point too....just don't wear a puffy shirt.

From one Wisconsinite to another, don't put that on your bike...... Rather then expressing yourself with a pirate logo on the bike just make a bad ass bike. The paint doesn't need to be right right away. Functionaility over looks.. Then once that is squared away I guess you could add the pirate thing..... First thought that came to mind is when people put cafe on their tanks...

Wow - tough crowd out there today.

If it was me, I would put it on my side covers or oil tank depending on how you do you bike rather than the gas tank. Understated.

But then I put flames on all my tanks so what do I know?

Alright... I think I'm gonna save the graphics for awhile, finish the bike and see where it takes me from there. I didn't figure there would be so much backlash from a pirate symbol

C'mon dude, don't bow to peer pressure. I'd go ahead and do it just to tick everybody here off. Hah, take that...

I, for one, like it.

But be careful about what skull you choose! For instance, that right there is the flag of Calico Jack Rackham, which was also used by Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. As long as you're aware of it, and the associations, all good! More on jolly rogers here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolly_Roger Especially check out the one flown by Black Sam Bellamy and Edward England: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Edward_England.svg

And notice how close it is to some Nazi SS divisions, especially the 3rd SS Division, which was known to use motorcycle infantry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd_SS_Division_Totenkopf

I'm all for jolly rogers and pirate flags, but be careful what you're flying. Maybe replace the swords with wrenches or pistons or something?

It’s doable ... perhaps with a design that's more artistic and dimensional?

This one isn't so bad..

That's good information. I chose the one from pirates of the Caribbean because I figured they chose one without other meanings  8)

Sometimes cars make more sense. When it is raining and freezing a$$ cold.
And mud or slush keep you bike at home where it is safe .

It is not about cages VS bikes.

The rebellion is just in your mind as it is with many your age.

But we all went through it before we realized it is just a phase. Just like the phase where you use cuss words constantly. It will pass.

Just put the skull and crossbones on the bike and let pepole make up their own story in their mind.

That looks nothing like the SS death head, haha. If you want I be a rebel just run it with straight pipes and no baffle.

Your correct, it's not a car VS bikes idea. I'd just rather be riding.

So running straight pipes makes one a rebel these days ???

'round here its llegal, and frowned upon by the liberal population.(which is pretty much everyone) I would call that rebellious. I ran my car about with strait pipes for a couple weeks till I caught a woman in a minivan standing by my car, trying to think of a way to deface it.

I mainly made the connection because a buddy of mine was making a pirate flag for a party back in college and we were looking for ideas on the internet and found this awesome jolly roger- it was the classic bones-behind-the-head type, but more compact. We thought it looked awesome, so my buddy started working on his flag. I was curious and kept clicking around, and discovered that the graphic came off a skinhead website- we were making an SS flag and didn't even know it!

I'm still 100% pro-pirate flags, but now I warn people so the don't make the same mistake we (almost) made.

Well if you really wanna be a rebel, I say you should use the Hell's Angel's skull design on your tank and park your bike outside your local HA Clubhouse.

Please set up a video camera somewhere discrete before you let 'em see you, and ask one of your friends to post the result on youtube, so we can all enjoy your artwork, and post our condolences to your family...... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
