Topic: Want to put the "classic" style shocks with covers on a 1978 CB750k

I really like the look of the shock covers on the earlier CB750 models.

Is it possible to put an older CB750 shocks on? If so, which CB750 shocks would work the best?

I think they are pretty much all the same as long as they got the Clevis on the bottom, just bolt 'em on...1970's Honda stock shocks all pretty much suck

they were designed by 120 lb Japanese men for 180 lb american men...and just general poor dampening, especially after 30-40 years...although out of 8 or 9 bikes I've owned, I have only seen 2 sets worn to the point of leaking

I have a set of Ikons with shrouds on my 650, much better than the pogo sticks it had on it when I bought it.  Adjustable dampers and spring rate allows me to set it for when I have the missus on the back, if I want to push it hard through the twisties or just cruise down the highway.  I have never had them bottom out on me yet.

I've seen this canard many times, and I'm wondering if there's any fact to it, such as say, the the design team saying that they really tested the suspension using 120 lb. weights. They knew where their biggest market lay, and I would think that Honda would be shrewd enough to take that into account. I've found the stock Showas to be pretty good for all round riding, until they start to leak of course. I would love to hear more on this.
