Crankcase replacement for a K1
« on: July 18, 2006, 04:16:53 AM »
G/Day Everyone. The crankcases of my CB 750 K1 engine are damaged beyond repair. I have a spare set from a K6. Are there any differences that prevent me from using the K6 cases?
Z1 Enterprises advertise a engine seal kit that fits a K1 and K2 but they do not advertise a kit for the K6. Are ther differences in the engine seals for these motors? If the answer is yes what are the differences? Thanks, Pat

Cant be 100% sure but a think there may be taranny bearing issues, you will just have to try it and see. The only seal that may be different is again the sprocket seal
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Bryan,Thanks for that. I am in the process of doing just that and I cannot see any differences. I also have a spare set from a K7 and can see from the outside that the output shaft has a larger diameter so the seal will be different and the case itself is wider in that area as if to house a bigger bearing. As far as using K6 cases in a K1 motor I don't think I have a problem.
Someone else may comment. Thanks, Pat

Thanks Clyde. I had a good look this arvo and I cannot see anything that would prevent me from doing what I want to do so I am "going for it". Pat
