You know what those danishes and donuts are also known as don't you?
Fat pills.

Looks like current AZ plates on that wall with the MC plates and 13 stickers.
You need to reload the Bond photo license plate machine.
We have those infernal things here too in nearby cities. Legislature is looking to rule them illegal on state highways here like they did in AZ. A local town has some setup on SR 19 to line their coffers. Amazing how towns and cities depend on these funding sources.

OK, let's talk throttle cable routing.

I read where the throttle cable runs through the left side in the first hole (oval) of the frame. This is where the wiring harness passes through.

It also appears you can go through the front of the frame along side the horn. As long as I "am waiting again" thought I would find out the proper way.

This depends on the length of the cable. Probably get the wrong one. Again.

I have little faith anymore.

mine is a '70 and they supposedly didn't make them then. The number of different cases and gaskets and cable lengths and other parts are on par with the Dream. I couldn't foist such a thing on you TT, you would hate me for it.  :D ;D

Five days waiting on the throttle cable that should of worked in the first place.  :-X

On a positive note I saw where they have a "white wax" available. Have to have that!  8)

Don't know about the Dream, but on my Baby Dream the throttle cable routes this way:  After exiting the bars, it enters a hole on the right side that goes through the upper part of the right fork.  It then passes in front of the steering head and around to the left side up under the tank where there is another hole in the frame that it enters.  From there it resides inside the frame under the tank, to emerge just above the carburetor.  Maybe the Dream is similar?

Understood.

My question was at the frame. The first hole is oval and the wiring harness passes through here. Pretty sure that is where the throttle cable goes also.

Got a hit from my CL ad from Vegas. Can you believe $400 for this without a title?  I'll offer $100 because there are several things I could use.

Has that been through a fire or just sat out in the desert sun for a decade or more? Is it really worth $100? If it has been through a fire, then maybe the motor cases are ok but if it has sat outside...then maybe more of the motor is ok but not much especially if seized.
People think their stuff is worth a lot because it is old and it still survives, even if barely.
It is not a bike that is worth a lot when restored.
Might be different story if they were worth $10-20k when finished but, it would likely cost you 2/3 that if it were worth that to restore a reasonable condition one. This one would be a money pit to attempt to restore.

This is not to restore. Are you nuts?

I'm looking for parts and this has what I am looking for. Motor turns over but don't really care. One of these builds is enough for me. A lot of work, lot of part searching and a lot of crappy aftermarket.

I'm still waiting on a fricken throttle cable that should of been right the first time. Then get a comment "Do you want another one" from the Vendor?

No, I'll just keep the one "that dsoesn't work" you nimrod!

Handlebars are crap on that one, exhaust is dented, but it has a nice seat. Plenty of ventilation on that seat.
Does it really have $100 worth of parts?

If it's a 305 the handle bars are correct. Right exhaust pipe looks good with some cleaning, front bumper if not bent. (worth a lot)

Of course I would look at it first before any cash changes hands. Doubt anything will move forward.

These sellers would rather it rots before moving it. Fine with me. Plenty of time.

TT,

Motolane in Illinois www.motolane.com has a 1960 CA77 that appears to be pretty complete. Although the picture could be old.

I have bought parts from Clint, the owner, before and he has always been good to deal with.

Thanks Danny. There were two styles of handle bars. I believe that year would have the early style. I need late. In fact, this whole project is now on hold. Tired of working on it, tired of parts that don't fit. Until I get the correct handle bar setup it will just have to sit. I tried modifying a cable but to no avail. Have to tear it down again.

The innards's of the handle bar is not correct. When you install everything if moves the cable about 5 mm thus the very high idle. It's holding the slide up as there is absolutely no free play in the cable.

I did get it running good without the cable attached at the bars although the clutch is giving me some issues. Smoked a little on start up but has since stopped. I did soak the cylinders pretty good. Compression is 150 and 132. Hopefully the low number comes up some.

Nightmare build but it won't deter me. I just need to get away from it and find the right parts.

I did buy a nice right side exhaust pipe today but have no intentions to install until the Fall. Going to clean the shop, drain the fuel and remove from lift.

Pretty much done for now.

She looks very very nice and clean. Once you source the correct parts or have them made you can ride her for a bit before you flip her to move on to the next project bike to take her place.

Frustrating bike problems take the fun out of these builds and refreshes.

Are you serious about looking for an S90?  What color do you want? Or, what color would it be when you are finished?

Have the temps let up any?

Was interviewing with a company in Sierra Vista Friday and was asking about the weather and apparently the monsoon rainy season is starting to kick off already.  Do you have monsoon there in NW AZ as well?  Everyone wants it to start to give some relief from the humidity and heat. Personally, I didn't find it to give that much relief unless it was late enough in the day for the rain to make the evening temps much cooler.  Otherwise it would just warm back up and be sticky anyway...

Any replies on the other bikes you were looking at?  Get that CBX owner to budge a little off the fence yet?  Or the 80s DOHC 750 owner to nibble back?

Actually I want to keep this one. As far as another project I'm not sure if I want to do anymore.

Understatement.

Not really. If I run across one in better than average condition.

Great in the mornings. Don't worry about the heat this year. Retired! Don't go anywhere in the afternoon and evening. Everything done early and taking a nap by 1100 hrs.  :D

Haven't heard back from Nate on the CBX. The owner of the 750 SS is in Cali for a week. I think he wants to sell to his friend who has to sell his BMW first. Not excited about it anymore. Probably pass on it for $3500.

OK guys and gals. I'm on the hunt for handle bars.

Surely everyone on here can locate a set for me somewhere.  ::)

I believe the 305 Dream had the wider bars as seen in this picture. Can't verify as I have seen scrambler type bars also and was told they came both ways.

Here's a picture from the Honda brochure, sometime in the 1960s.  This is what they sold up here in Canada.  Maybe the pictures can give you an idea of what the handlebars looked like.

That picture of the 150 model looks like the CA95 that was sold in the USA.  The one actually sold here looked like the 125 shown, with turn signals.

I bought a set on flea bay but the top clamp is to long. See picture of difference.

The width is longer at the top clamp. Speaking of the top clamp that could be wrong also. I know the bike was wrecked in it's lifetime so it's hard to tell what was changed.

My 150 has bars like the 1st picture with narrow bars and it is a 65. The chrome is pitted on them. The bike is pretty rough but it ran and is a project bike for repaint when I start it
