Having seen the Colorado I can't blame you Toytuff. They size the AC units larger than normal for the additional cooling capacity.   Some cars can't cool the car to 85 in 120F or hotter heat. Gets uncomfortable.
Volvo 240s were that way.  Kept telling the Swedish engineers it wasn't enough. Flew them into TX and rigged the windows in a Volvo 740 so they wouldn't work and disabled the AC for the trip from airport to the dealer service center/testing center.  The engineers were dismantling the door panels to access the controls to lower the windows and the like.  They finally redesigned the A/C for the 940s and did a little for the 240 before it was discontinued.

Environment can be brutal, without water, deadly.

Here in TN it is humid at around 65-85% humidity and high 80s, it is no fun to work in. Rainy weather typical of this time of year.
I like ToyTuff am not a fan of the humidity and heat...  why I enjoyed living in AZ for over 7 years.

You AZ guys are all the same - oh, but it's dry heat.  Yeah, but it's effin hot!   I don't want to stay inside after 11am, I like to be outside.  It's hot here and m used to it, but don't like it.  Winters here are awesome, high in the 70's.....perfect.

Yes, but dry and hot is more tolerable than humid and hot personally. I have bicycled in 105F for a couple hours with a few breaks for water. Not pleasant but doable.  You can soak your shirt and evaporation will help some. Anything over body temp is unpleasant.

Finally! Finally the correct handle bars and throttle parts.

And now the rest of the story....(long thread)

I contacted a seller on flea bay that had a real nice set of BUCO saddlebags.  Asked if he had any handle bars. He returned my email with a phone number. Ring..ring. Yuip, he had a set that was like new. 9 out of 10 he said. Send pics please! OK.

My, my. I want them. He said make me an offer. I played American Picker and broke the ice with a pretty high amount. He said that was above fair. My method of madness was to see what else he might have. In our phone conversation he had bought and knew where several Dream parts were located. Some parts still in a box.

The plan worked but I'll get to that later. Now on to the handle bars.

The bars and parts.

Here are the correct hand grips. Notice extra diameter on the rim of throttle grip.

As soon as I opened the box I could see these were the right bars. Notice the notch on the right side and the cable stop with the same boss to fit.

And the correct OEM parts I found on flea bay. These were new. (on left)

Rewire the bars. Third time.

Mount up.

Here is the old scrambler setup.

And how Honda designed it for the Dream models.

Adjust bars, perches, install cables, adjust throttle slack, install grips then the OEM mirrors. Things are now as they should be!

Wait a minute! Hold on Cowboy! What is that chrome thing on the rear fender?

Oh, yeah, I mentioned something on that huh? When I was on the phone he said he had a rear rack. Send pictures.

 :o :o :o :o

My Lord ship it! Bought cheap. I don't think it has ever been mounted. Rare as "hens teeth". Perfect. Couldn't send the money fast enough!  ;)

So, it is temporally mounted for pictures as you have to drill a hole in your fender. No big deal but the problem is if you run the rear seat rail you can't run a rear rack. One or the other. Not both.  :(

I posted for a tank bag in the wanted section because I just can't decide. The seat rail just looks so dang cool! So retro.

The Dream has been road tested, fine tuned, titled, registered, insured and correct. (as close as I could get it) It was a solid four months of work. Certain tasks were done two, three and even four times. Just me. Cost over run was high but I learned a lot about this model.

This is the ninth Honda to pass through the garage. Looking for number 10. Thanks to everyone who helped me, answered questions and gave me a positive to continue.

Oh, still won't do another.  ;D

Well, maybe we can talk him into doing a 150, it's just half the work right Greggo?
It is technically a 154cc motor...so is the 305 really 305cc?

Toytuff, hearty congratulations on getting the right bars on it.

I think I would skip the rear high grab bar, not much of a rack in my view. Interesting piece but doesn't float my battleship. But, it isn't my bike to really have a say.

Looks much better with those bars!  Everything looks really pretty.  Congratulations on a fine job.

Regarding the rear grab bar - it would be your decision whether or not to add it.  Another option that I really like the look of is separate seats front and rear, with a saddle style for the front.  They aren't very common but I believe it was an option for this model.  Also looking very cool are some hard-case Buco bags that incorporated turn-signals or brake lights on them.  That grab bar is probably not compatible with either the bags or the double seats.

Speaking of turn-signals, that's a nice option that was standard on all non-American models....

Thank you HR and for the help also.

Yes, I've looked a pictures of that also. I wonder if a CT90 rear rack would work? Sold both of mine so I don't know the measurements. I bet it's close.

Could of bought a real clean set off of my contact. Lights intact. Just didn't "pop" for me. It's a "round the town" bike anyway. If I need to carry I'll ride the six. Nice to have choices.  ;)

I'm pretty sold on the seat rail. It makes the rear fender and lines of the bike stand out.

Nice job on the bars, must be a relief for you. I like the rack, too bad it requires drilling the fender though, no turning back once there.

Nice pic posted above, is that your dream?! (Water, cool temps, red Dream, beautiful woman!)

Thanks guys.  8)

For now I will leave the seat rail off and see what else pops up. Have all kinds of feelers out for accessories and a long hot Summer still ahead.

Engine guard and luggage rack. I have seen two styles on the rack. I want the one in the picture. It uses the seat mount bolts instead of shock bolts. Looks so much better.

Wish me luck.

I know what you mean TT. I really wish that I hadn't let my dad sell his '71 CB175 about 5 years ago. It had been in the family since the early 80's and ran just fine. We had got it back on the road back in the days before the interwebs when you had to track down parts the hard way via word of mouth and swap meets.

It had an aftermarket seat (bright blue metal flake vinyl with a wide chrome strip at the bottom) and a pair of generic aftermarket mufflers. Today with a couple clicks of my mouse I could have a bike in similar condition to your Dream for only a few hundred dollars.

Hmm, I wonder if I can track down the person he sold it too? I think it was someone he knew and not a random stranger.

We are running across several small cc bikes in Idaho. A very clean 71 CB100 in Gold. Asking $700.00. Sold now as we could not get a reply back from him.

Several CB 125 S models also. They are out there. Still shopping for a S90 bike myself.
