1972 CB350F LED Light Issue
« on: April 07, 2013, 01:10:05 PM »
OK, finally got around to installing the LEDs I bought from superbrightleds a while back.  Put a 1157-RLX3 in the taillight - works fine.  Put appropriate color BA9s-G4 in handlebar panel.  All of them looked great - for a little while.  The Amber turn signal works great, the blue high beam works great.  Both the Neutral green and oil light red went dead.  I put the original bulbs back in and they work fine.  Should I have gone with something else or what?  I tried the bulbs in the other spots and they were dead.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Which G4's were they? Probably one R4 and one G4 yes?

The led's run at about 2-3 volts and have resistors built in for different voltage. E.I. 6,12,24 volts.

If you have a 6 volt bulb in a 12 v installation it's probably burned them out.

They are 12 volt bulbs unless mis-marked somehow.  I double checked and they are 12 volt.  Maybe they were mismarked?

It's possible.

Unless they have the correct resistor ballast they are toast.

Since the regular bulbs work.... Doesn't sound like wiring issues.
