@Walker Brothers, That's a good looking bike.
I was able to source the headlight to an old Ducatti or Aprilla thanks to someone from the thread reading the letters correctly.

What did you get those forks off of?

So I got my GSXR front end for $350 shipped. I still need to get the bearings and the top clamp. Also I need to grab some stainless spokes, but I'm not sure what size I need.

Other than purchasing, I got the tank sitting on the frame with the knee dents cut out and in their rough positions.

I ave a strong suspicion that I'll need to re-make the seat, as there's only about 12" of sitting area, and I still need to get the seat pan upholstered.

I've mounted the forks. Unfortunately I didn't add a spacer at the bottom before I pressed the bearing and I need to re-press the bottom bearing.

Anyone familiar with the proper thickness of spacer that goes between the triple tree and the lower bearing?

I've gotten my engine back from the engine guy, 1/2 done.  So I'm starting to assemble the head, when I realize that the cam I received was for the late model Cb650. I need to get the cam from the 79'-82' model.

Anybody have a cam that they aren't using?  I'm in the market for one.

I went ahead and decided not to modify a stock tank.  The metal was so thin (22ga) and it was more or less a disaster for me.  So I started to make a new tank, using the "best practices" I've seen espoused around the internet.  Here's the progress:

The Buck I made

Here's some test pieces to see if the available tools could do as needed:

I feel that the tank is going to look awesome.  I think you should do a mass production  ;)

Since this project is an insanely slow build, Im going to just put up some photos of the tanks progress.

I have to tig weld the aluminum.  I'd rather gas weld it, but the torch at the shop doesn't accept the tips, Tig's OK, but it's just 4x hotter than an OA weld.

It's been alot of fun though.

I don't know if I like the shape, so there might be a take-3 on a gas tank.  Let's hope not.
