question regarding 750 triple tree
« on: July 26, 2006, 09:06:27 PM »
I was looking at an online schematic for a 1982 750 triple tree and noticed i was missing what looks like a sleeve that fits over the bearings.

I am mounting it in a 650sc frame from the same year and noticed I can wiggle it back and forth in the neck.  I'm thinking i need these but not sure what they actually are or do.

1982 cb650sc nighthawk.  the work never stops.

If you are talking about the part just below the bearing itself, that is the outer race and yes, you will definitely need it. You have to take a hammer and a long punch to drive it out of the old frame and install the race in your frame before putting the tree in place. If you can't get the old races, better get some new bearings.  Later on, Bill
