550 lower steering bearing race OD.
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:15:24 PM »
Need to know the OD of it so I can get a socket to drive the race in. I don't have access to it right now otherwise I'd measure it myself.

So if you don't have a metric socket that would be a 1-7/8th socket or maybe a 1-15/16th?

50mm doesn't sound right. I was driving it in with a 1-1/2" socket, but it was too big to fit in the headstock. 36mm was too small.

How about 49.99mm? This is the outer race OD for the lower steering head bearing.

Are we talking about the same thing?

Tapered bearing if that makes a difference.

Nevermind, I'm a tard and forgot how to tool. The socket was 1-1/2", but the OD of that socket is 52mm. I didn't measure the OD of the 36mm socket, but I'll try renting a slightly bigger one, making sure to measure the OD at the store.
