For Those Interested, Here's The Latest On My Dad
« on: May 10, 2013, 08:23:29 PM »

1st off, my Dad will be turning 88yrs old, this coming July 16th. Just doesn't seem possible! Before I say anything else, I want to give a Special Thank You, to ALL who gave us SO MUCH support, back when my (so called) brother and his wife tried to shove him in a nursing home and take all he had, for themselves. Besides the Huge amount of support I got from here, I also got some VERY valuable info as well. I got a HUGE education in that sort of thing REAL quick. Fortunately, they were put in THEIR place and out of business!

Dad has had some ups and downs, over the last few months. After loosing my Wife in July of '09 (again, Tons of Support, that REALLY set me back and I THANK YOU ALL For It), and then, in Jan of 2012, a Close Lady friend and I realized that instead of looking in 2 different directions, for a relationship, all we had to do was to look at each other. She was located in Georgia and so, I moved (or started the move) to Georgia and brought my Dad and my Daughter with me. I moved, because it seemed like the best thing to do. About 2 months ago, he started not wanting to get out of bed, eat or take his meds. And when he WOULD get up, he'd go spend periods of time, in the bathroom. Got to the point, that I got him checked out and he was hospitalized with a urinary trac infection. And since he was loosing weight and energy was going away, the hospital kept him for about a week and then he has received about a month of rehab and we are picking him up tomorrow. He Really has bounced back. He actually looks pretty good. I had no clue about that infection, as I have not been in a hospital, except for 3 E.R. visits over years and to visit and when my Daughter was born. Now my Dad, is like that old Timex Watch commercial "Takes A Licking And Keeps On Ticking".  ;D

So, guess that's about it, for now.  ;)

Nice to hear some good news for a change. Good luck to your Dad and your new relationship.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Good to hear bill.

Thanks Tim, he sure surprised me, by being able to get along without the oxygen. He has been on that, since about the Spring of '07.

I agree, there are so many who lose their parents way before this age. At this point, I have my Dad, my Daughter, My Wife And my new In-Laws,

Thank you, but I also have to give alot of credit for taking care of my Dad, now days. And my Daughter Karla, has been a big help as well. We presently are living in 2 separate places and hope to get it to where we all are in one house soon.

Yeah, I hear that. He sure is surprising me, with his progress. He had that urinary trac infection recently and we are getting back on trac now and picking him up today.  And Thank you, for the comment on the new relationship. Michelle and I are totally committed to each other and thanking God for it. ;-)

Hey David, thanks for that. We are moving right along and doing well! Gonna pick my Dad up, today, from Rehab. He has a new walker waiting for him and we have some things to do, before I go get him. He REALLY is looking good, especially for 87yrs old. ;-)

Uh huh, Who am "I"? Might have known I'd get an answer like that. LOL! I asked for That one though.

Appreciate it Sam, things ARE really going along VERY well. The "Move" is because Michelle doesn't have anything left here, wants out and also She is trying to help work out getting my Dad back home, where he REALLY wants to go. She really is into trying to make sure that my Daughter Karla and my Dad are taken care of and THAT is Great! We ARE a Very TOGETHER Family. I couldn't have asked for more, I guarantee you. Take care buddy, gotta go get things ready to bring my Dad home. Maybe I can catch you later on, on here or in messages. Have a Great Weekend Sam! ;-)

Hey Thank you, Bill, I DO appreciate that. Dad has improved in several areas. He doesn't have to have his food blended anymore. He doesn't have to have his drinks "thickened" anymore and now, he doesn't need oxygen, to keep the level up, in his body. Yes, Michelle and I are doing just fine and her kids AND her family have taken me into their family and make it known that I AM part of them now.  8)      74 huh? So, I have a good source, if I have questions about getting to that age, eh?  ;) I just hit 66 in March, myself and, Yes, I know that you;ve been there already.  :)   Good to hear from YOU, as well, Bill.

Hey, Good to hear from an Arkansas Brother! Thanks for that and I meant to post an update sooner, but Dad was having some problems and we had some issues too. But, things are leveling out somewhat and ya just gotta hang tough and ride out the rough parts and that's exactly what Michelle and I are doing. We're taking it as it comes and handling whatever Together!  8)  ;)
