Sorry to hear man. Was also thinking..this isn't the first time you were T-boned. For once..have to agree that riding your Harley probably gave you some extra protection. Good!

All I can say now is..get back on when you can..and keep riding. I still haven't decided to hang it up..yet. Maybe when I'm too old to pull the clutch in?? At this rate..you might be good candidate for cyborg status..given the amount of surgical steel you have in you..lol

Am currently in Japan..visiting friends..relatives. If I go to close to Yamiya this time I'll let you know. But don't think the schedule this time will allow.

All the (belated) best Jerry, that must have hurt like hell. My cousin got cleaned up on his 1944 Indian Chief 2 weeks ago by a woman car driver, he was knocked out, but is OK now apart from some bruising and a couple of busted fingers.

Luckily he was insured (she wasn't, so this will be an expensive lesson for her) as he's just received the quote from Jim Parker (Oz's premier Indian restorer) for $20K. I hope you score a new Harley out of this mate! Cheers, Terry.

Update for all. Pulled in to Denver last night and got home this morning. I have a Dr appt with my ortho guy in the morning. Better but slow. Just wish the damn swelling would go away altogether. And as I was taking my early afternoon regenerative nap

I received a very welcome phone call from the perp's insurance company. Very welcome in the fact that he was ticketed for 2 things at the site: wrong side of the road and expired insurance card. They seem to want to be very accommodating in light of the report which stated he admitted it was his fault.

The Fat Boy is in SE TN, somewhere near Maryville. It's a goner. So far I've negotiated it up $2000. Initial estimate basically compared it to a stock Fat Boy which was not close. I will say that whoever ends up with the 'remnants' will have some nice pieces! The engine is in great shape with 45K miles and it's kitted. Never a problem with it. Beautiful chromed wheels and tasteful chrome scattered throughout. It's the 100th anniversary tins that bring serious dollars and must be verified as to the bike/owner before Harley will lift a brush. The frame had some damage also. That'd be labor intensive. It was 10 years old and that was a negative too.

Which was the worst off?

Well I would say, that as it's a write off, the bike is the worst off. You, however, are on the mend!

The cash for pain and suffering and future medical care for any complications or lingering issues is the biggest issue. Insurance will not pay for something attributed as being caused by a prior injury in the future. So, if they want to blame and and wiggle out of paying for it they will have recovery agents asking lots of questions about future injuries or problems with that leg/ankle. It is a PITA to deal with.
I have had several injuries to my right ankle. Right lateral ankle reconstruction for a bad break/tears 20 years earlier back in 2000. (Ankle had become unstable with some bad sprains resulting in additional tears) Then in 2009 a workplace fall resulted in 95% rupture of the achilles tendon in that same ankle. End up with nerve damage and 30-50% loss of feeling in the outside of the ankle/side of the foot and ended up with a settlement for that loss but the plantar fasciiatis in the left foot caused by being on crutches for nearly 6 months was not linked to it and it took a year after I was on 2 feet again to get over that. It was no fun.

Heal up well Jerry and follow your doctor's instruction and advice. Hope your lawyer is a good one and the squid on the Ducati(?)/Suzuki(?) pays for his "sins".

Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you are healing!!! Buy your bike back from the INS. they will usually sell it back for 10% of value, then you can rebuild and ride again!!

Having just survived the demise of my own 900 lb. behemoth bike 6 weeks ago, I totally empathize with you, but those big bikes do give you a better chance of walking away. I escaped with a first degree shoulder separation and some bruises- bike also totaled. Hope you heal soon.

Went to my ortho guy this morning. As the PA is handing him my chart he says "what did he do now?" LMAO Anyway he removed cast, 30 staples, 11 stitches. Go back 7/2. Swollen and multi-colored but better than expected.

Pretty damn good for 13 days! Oh yeah, you wanna see my new scooter?
