Curiosity survey:
What do you think is the best way/product to seal your crankcase halves when reassembling a motor?

I’ve always used Hylomar blue, Honda stuff on any engines I’ve worked on and never seen a leak, it never sets but don’t go mad with the application of the stuff, a light smear is enough.

There is a Hondabond, comes in a few variations, there's one called HT (high temp) Not sure if it's available from motorcycle shops but it's a honda car product..expensive.

I think the Yamaha stuff is re-branded Threebond 1104, and I know a number of knowledgeable and experienced motorcycle guys who won't use anything else on their split cases.

Are any of you familiar with Loctite 574?

When I was service manager at that German cars/Porsche place we only used Loctite 574 -- most of the Porsche engines (and air cooled VW's) have split cases.  Long ago we used the Hylomar Blue stuff, but experience and technical service bulletins had us switch to Loctite 574.   I understand that it is made in Germany and usually is sold as a speciality Porsche product.  Any of you ever use it?
