Dunno, the pictures won't open up for me.  Anyone else have this problem?

The links good and so are the pics. Nice work on the filter housing. I like the stepped sides.

Its all about looks ;)

I might try taking the top fins off and see what that will look like.

Well, for one thing, if you remove the steps on the sides and the fins from the top, you could pedal it on eBay as an original, sandcast oil filter housing.  ;D OK, you would have to remove the webbing inside too to really pull it off.

Damn, I think one that was turned down smooth all around like the sandcast/early diecast covers would be TITS.  I'd buy one, then buy a 750 to put it on.

Looks great. The stepped sides really do make it look good.

I am opting for the car filter adapter/converter thingy.

I found mine on eBay but I did a google search for 'CB750 oil' and checked the images pages.

The picture pointed me to this. Mine looks identical.

It came with great instructions and specs on what car filters will fit. I think there were about 10 depending on what brand you wanted.

I gots one of these as well , which has yet to go on my scoot.
I got it just for the ease of filter changes, plus it is different from the norm, which my bike is all about  ;)

I made another one, this time I took all the fins off.  Let me know what you think.

Nice custom look to it.

How long does it take to machine it down?

About an hour to turn down the cover, then you could spend years polishing it :P

Can you program the machine to delete the ridges and smooth the edge on the front so that they are indistinguishable from the original "sandcast" smooth oil filter covers?

Now why would you want a cover that is indistinguishable from a sandcast ;)

Yes I can reprogram the machine, at least I think I can.....I shaped them by hand on the lathe ;D

To be honest, it's not to make money, but it's because I actually prefer the LOOK of the early smooth oil filter covers.  Period.  I like 'em better than the finned ones and want one for my 750 cafe.

I wonder to what extent the finned cover dissipates heat better than the smooth ??? I assume they made the change for this reason ???

I think that's the reason, but I don't have any hard data on cooling.

I am able to make some more, if anyone wants them.

You will need to send me your filter cover and $30 .  I will turn it down to your specs (within reason).  You can then do the fine sanding and detail work.

email me for specifics.
