Advice on getting a carb synchronizer?
« on: August 05, 2013, 06:04:14 AM »
I've read the archives and seen the various debates on which carb synchronizer is the best, but most of the threads are several years old. Which one should I get for my CB400F? Do they come with the fittings to fit my threaded vacuum ports? Thanks!

I have the Morgan carbtune  which I like very much. It has no liquid to spill and I thank it cab also be used upside down if need be and it comes with fittings.

If you look on flea bay every so often a set of these pop up. I believe they are the same set Motion Pro sells but way cheaper. I have two sets. Love the analog a lot better.

Just me.

Morgan Carbtune owner for over 10 years now. Never an issue and always get the carbs spot on. Sure, a bit more costly but well worth it in MY opinion.

I've only used Morgans really. No needle flutter to worry about. There are fittings for most carbs included.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I was unable to order a Carbtune directly through them, but found and ordered one from a vendor on eBay.  Looking forward to trying it out.

What problem were you having purchasing direct? Based on the recommendations from here I just purchased the Carbtune direct from England. Website very easy to navigate.

That's what I liked about mine. Plenty of choices. Had a carb tune, never used it, sold it.

Before anyone buys from Saber Cycle go to some of the Goldwing forums and see what is said about them.

I bought some adapters off Amazon and made my own with about $8 worth of plastic tubing from the hardware store, some t-connectors, a bit of board, a drill and some wire. Took about 20 minutes. Poured some motor oil in there. Got 'em spot-on.

Was it as easy as out-of-the-box? Nope. Was it completely mess-free? Nope. But it was under 20 minutes to make, and dirt cheap.

It wasn't a problem with their site, my bank flagged the payment and "fixed" it three times so that I would be able to make the payment, but it never ended up working. From what I have heard, they have excellent customer service and ship very quick.

I have the same set of analog's that Toy has.  I love them.  All metal valves and a molded case with all the adapters and hose fitted in the lid.  I cross checked mine by hooking each gauge to the same cylinder and found them to be close enough for government work.

Don't go with a liquid gauge. They work, but fussy.

Not really any input from me, but more of a question. And I think I already know the answere to.

Do I really need to buy my own sync kit and learn how to do it? Or just pay someone 35 bucks every time to sync them?

How often do you all even sync your carbs?
Once a year?
After a re-jet/needle adjustment?

I do tasks the most difficult way. My life is interesting.

I bought 4 vacuum gauges from Surplus Center for $20 total and built my own with bunch of rubber tubes and fish supply valves.

Works well for me.

Shoud be done as part of every 3000 mile tune up.  Plan to have a bike for 10K miles?

Once they are synced they will probably stay that way for a long time. But I just finished rebuilding the carbs and need to sync them. Plus I have other bikes and cars with multiple carbs, so $100 for a good tool is not a bad investment.

$60 from Cycle X.

Works great for me. I've used it on my 750 K4 and have used it on a buddy's 400F as well.
