trans swap
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:57:33 AM »
Hey everyone new to this site and the bike scene. Picked up my first bike a 77 CB550 k.  The previous owner stretched, chopped and made the bike rigid, Ill go more into that in a build thread.  My question is, I just picked up a CB450 as a parts bike for some small odds and ends and it has a 6 spd trans. I'm wondering if this trans is compatible or adaptable to my 550.  I know they are different style engines, 2 cyl to a 4 cyl and I've tried searching around on the net but cant find any info which leads me to believe the swap cant be done.  A trans swap wasn't the intention when purchasing the bike but a 6 spd sure would be a nice upgrade.  Any help and or info would be great, so far this site has helped me out with a few bugs I had to work out, so much info and so many build threats its easy to get lost for hours and not even know it.

If it could easily be done, or worthwhile  you would have found out by now.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
