Matching Numbers?

Currently there is a K2 for sale with the following engine number and VIN:
 Engine number CB750E 2053224
 VIN CB750 2045492
 The bike is definately a K2, however the numbers are a long way apart and although it is being sold as having matching numbers, I wonder if it actually is.
 Does anyone have any thoughts?

engine vin and frame vin almost never match....

There is a chart somewhere on the site that lists engine numbers and what frames they were in.  I printed it off and have used dozens of times over the years.
