Head gasket, brand?
« on: September 08, 2013, 04:23:07 AM »
I'm looking into a new head gasket for my cb350F, because I took the head off.
Now I can't get my hands on a OEM gasket without spending some big bucks. (At least here in the Netherlands).

I can order an after market one for 40 euro's + shipping. I can choose from Athena, Vesrah, Centauro and RMCP.
The only brand I've ever heared of is Athena.
I've tried the search but I coulnd't really find a defenite answer on which one to get. I've red that Athena is a pretty good brand but that's about it.
Since I don't know anything about the other brands I'm not sure which one to order.
Can somebody tell me which one is the best option?

If u got a link to where I can buy an OEM gasket for cheap that would be nice aswell. I don't mind waiting a bit longer to get it shipped from the States or elsewhere if it's the OEM gasket.

Athena or Vesrah will work for you, overall they have acceptable quality. IDK the other ones but I'm no gasket expert. If you need more than just that gasket, say a top end kit does cyclex have what you need?

They take all the good stuff and wrap it together and sell it as different kits. http://www.cyclexchange.net/Engine%20Parts%20Page.htm

In either case I would spray a little copper kote or something similar on the gasket surface because it won't hurt anything and I like to do stuff once and right

The dirty girl-1976 cb750k, Ebay 836, Tracy bodykit
Round top carbs w/ 38 pilots, middle needle position, airscrew 7/8ths out, 122 main jet
Stock airbox w/ drop in K&N, Hooker 4-1

Don't trust me alone with a claw hammer and some pliers

I've got copper kote so I'll do that. Thanks for the tip.
I've already got an top end kit but the head gasket isn't any good any more.
