Rice-O-Rama Vintage Japanese motorcycle show Sept 2013
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:27:32 PM »
Rice-O-Rama, Oxford, MA 8th SEPTEMBER 2013

Weather-wise - perfect! Sunny, mid-70s.

Started early from my place - 7.15am with Alex (Crush) on the FZR600, Peter on the Versys and me on the K2. Headed backroads to Mike and made good time as roads mostly empty. Nice way to warm up the day. Met Anders on his K8 (with alternator upgrade) at Mikes place and Mike (MRieck) brought the modified FJ1200 out for a stretch and once we were on Rt9 he opened up and away he went - that bike can fly!

Assembled and ready....

Took Rt9 then I-290 to Oxford and made good time. Arrived at 9.30 which is the perfect time to be there since it opens at 10am, there are no crowds and all the vendors are already there waiting...good time to buy!

Lots of interesting bikes this year...heavily swayed to Hondas and cafe racers but a good mix on show and in the parking lot.

Here are the ones that caught my attention

Streetfighter-style in the parking lot - the guy had welded the tank himself and did a lot of work on the bike to get a Euro streetfighter look

I really liked this! I know its not my usual taste but I liked the minimalistic look of it and sleek lines

This CB750 got a lot of attention...has all the bling from Cycle-X (motor/brakes etc built by them), some bits from Joker Machine and the tank/fenders etc done by some Indian guy who hand makes them by beating them out by hand -now selling at Cycle-X or on Ebay  -dont be fooled by the size of the tank - just a little over 4 gallons.

Lot of CB750s this year....a lot not done terribly well in my humble opinion...

The good

The sparkly

The unique...

Mmm not my cup of tea

Resting after a blast down the Mass Pike

Something different

Kevin from CT`s very very nice CB550 - parts sourced 2 yrs ago from Rice-o-Rama - amazing workmanship! Check out that single sided swingarm from a VFR

Wooden seat

Dave Gilberts sidecar setup got a lot of attention

Can I have a ride please ;)

Nice to see Kevin from CT again (last time 2 yrs ago for Godzilla rally), Joe and his daughter, and a bunch of other SOHC/biker friends who I havent seen for a while. Very good show this year!

cheers
Andy

Nice pics Andy. Yeah...the event was packed. Better location than the last one I went too. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning!

The sparkly

Hey that's my bike!!  For the record the only reason it was in the show was that when I got there, there were only 4 bikes in the 750cc class.  I put it in just to help add filler.  When I came back in an hour or so it was jam packed in the show area so I pulled it out.  Its not a show bike.  Its a rider.

that candy red 750four was beautiful.
