Help with VIN on CB400F
« on: September 25, 2013, 02:09:45 AM »
Hello all. I own a 1976 CB400F. I sandblasted my frame and although I had covered my VIN plate, i managed to erase part of it. I can get it remanufactures by a guy in Ontario, Canada, but I  need some of the text that disappeared. Could somebody send a photo of their plate? I looked all over the net, and although there are similar plates, none are identical. Mine says in text:

MFD in Japan by Honda mOtors Co. LTD: 3/76
This vehicle conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicle (then unreadable) in effect on the (then unreadable)
Can't read anything else, but in the bottom right corner it says:
R 490 lbs
Motor cycle (in two words)
1976 model

Plate is made of thin aluminium and has adhesive backing + rivets at each end.
Measures 9.0 x 2.5 cm

Thank you all in advance!

This guy in Switzerland makes most if not all the reproduction plates you may be able to borrow one of his images. Where in Ontario can you source the plates? The previous owner of my bike decided to remove the plate and damaged it pretty good in the process. I would also like to replace mine.

Thanks so much for the photo. Really appreciated!

For those looking to have a VIN plate remade, this guy is in Ontario, Canada.

I have not seen the final result for my VIN plate yet, but he has been extremely good at communication so far.

Write to him at:
inquiry@bdesigns.ca

His name is Brian.

What is the cost of the plate? I may replace mine when I finish the build.

He charges about 120$ for an aluminium plate that is embossed, like mine. A normal sticker-type plate is about 60$

I think I'll take care of the one I have for that kind of money. They are not that hard to remove and replace for blasting and coating.

I'm wondering, why bother?
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
