Squirrel boy, your as_ is grass and Cal's gonna be the mower!  Given he was in wester Ohio, say Dayton...that is merely 1184 miles from CoSprings.  So, 10:30 ish with 8 hours requires a sustained 148 mph for a 6:30 ish arrival and a loafing 131 mph for arriving in 9 hours.  Given a '95 Volvo T5 Wagon un-governed can achieve speeds in excess of 155 mph , with production models of sedan and estate being limited to 147 mph.  The std MB  S550 is electronically limited to 155 mph with the AMG S63 and S65 Cabriolet being elect. limited to 186 mph...SO, it is not a mere idle threat that is not achieveable.  After he finishes with you he can enjoy a nice grass fed or grain fed steak before finishing his trip to LA to show BLAC how to mark and measure for the fly cutting in his pistons to be allow to APE do their magic flycutting the pistons for that 126-20 cam so that BLAC's 650 motor can be finished and enjoyed.   Delivery of the cylinder cover needed to allow the piston marking and measuring for depth of cut for those fly cutters...
Then drop by Jay Leno's Garage and appear on Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon
before heading back home...naturally enjoying a little time with all the lovely people sunning themselves and enjoying the beach on Cali coast.  What is a trip to Cali without at least enjoying watching and smelling the clean sea air?  Maybe he will rid the waters in nearby coastal areas of a few Great Whites menacing those waters so he will have a souvenior for the family and a gift for his buddies at Cognito-Moto.
And if he gets carried away while in CoSprings he can always drop you in the La Brea Tar Pits in downtown LA before heading over to BLAC's place.  No mess no fuss disposal.  It is fairly deserted after hours and not at all crowded...

Might want to hide that trophy from SteveO, might get shoved somewhere painful in meting out your punishment...

 ;) :) 8) 8D

Personally, I'm just disappointed that Steve-o didn't put assembly lube on that piston/trophy before sending it out.
Geesh....rookie mistake, Steve-o!

You guys are ridiculous.

Cal...tappet covers showed today. Thanks man.

Today I went back and double checked my timing and I do believe it's off by a bit. I know there seems to be a lot of debate from what I've read about setting timing either static or dynamic. I'm using Dyna's ignition and according to the directions, they want it set up static first and then say you can check to make sure the advancer is working afterwards with a strobe. When I checked 1-4 with a test light, the light came on (with the rotor turned clockwise as far as possible while turning the crank) so that the notch in the case was almost to the second advance mark (slightly more than halfway between the two advance marks). When I checked 2-3 the light came on well past the second advance mark. I'm guessing that these need to be as close as possible for both modules?

That's where I left things today because I had to finish cleaning the house, cutting the grass, going through gear, and packing. I'm catching an early flight in the morning to chase Tarpon. Should be fun. I have an 8 hour day on a flats skiff booked for Monday. I'll spend the rest of my time there chasing Snook in the surf. I've already landed Tarpon on a fly before but not Snook so it'll be cool to check another species off the bucket list. Another list fish for me is a Peacock Bass so I'm hoping to hit some freshwater canals and find some of them. Oh...I'm also looking forward to spending time with Heather as well.  ;D

Chris,
You probably know this but Snook have a very restrictive size limit that you're allowed to keep (if you're fishing in Florida for them...I don't know about elsewhere).  Just make sure to find out the limit (used to be 2 per day per person) and the size range you're allowed to keep on board the boat.  They were really serious about them years ago when I went Snook fishing, although granted it was almost 30 years ago when I did....so it may have changed since then.

Apparently TSA in Colorado Springs thought I looked suspect. I got a really nasty look from one agent and then another asked me what was in the tube. I was going to say a mini musket but then I thought better. Things escalated quickly after I was informed that the body scan had detected something metal near my groin and that my nether regions would need a thorough searching. I did ask the guy to let me know if he happened to come across my dignity while he was down there. Pretty sure the humor was lost. When I asked I should cough I KNOW the humor was lost. I thought it best not to say, "Thank you sir may have another?"

What have you been surfing or saying online to be marked by TSA for secindary screening?  If you are searched again on the return trip then it is likely you have been flagged for screening for something said or done that landed you in that boat.

It is best to never joke with TSA about anything remotely close to being threatening as you can end up in hot water.
Doing searches for certain things or visiting some websites can trigger additional scrutiny and you can trigger being scanned or searched more thoroughly
Sometimes it is who you interact and associate with causing these things

If you are continuing to receive special attention, then always arrive early to allow time for that screening as well as don't buy tickets with cash or the day of a flight or the night before as you might be seeing more scrutiny as a result.

Enjoy the time away with Heather and fishing she allows you to enjoy.  She's first priority of course...

I can't believe my build thread has morphed into discussions of 4 hour wood.  ;D . Although...the fishing is pretty incredible down here and certainly wood-worthy. We were walking earlier today near a pier and a guy had 2 or 3 poles set up and I could see a blade of grass or weed laying across one of his lines and it was tightening. Rod tip was twitching so I whistled at him and pointed. Then his bell started ringing and he ran over. It was 3 foot catfish of some sort. Guy was super excited but that fish made one run and broke right off. Guy spoke very little English but I knew he was bummed. This evening I walked the beach for about an hour with a fly rod. I'm hoping the beach won't be as crowded during the week or at 6 in the morning b/c I had to really watch my back cast. Spotted a dozen or so singles of cruising Snook and had one really hard follow. Thought for sure that fish was gonna hook up but it didn't dig it right at the end but followed into ankle deep water.

Well that was the most difficult day of fly fishing I have ever experienced. We did not fish flats but spent 8 hours in 10-20 feet of water where we would sit and glass the surface for Tarpon rolling up top. If we saw one we would maneuver into position to get a shot. Seems easy enough but everything was working against us. Weather has been poor with a decent storm pushing in from the Gulf. There was zero sun today and rain on and off so visibility was an issue. Wind was a major factor. The water that is typically glass here was 3-4 foot swells. If that wasn't enough, the fish were just downright ornery. We would spot a single roller or a pair of fish that would roll 3-5 times and then disappear. Biggest school we found was probably 12 but they vanished after I got one shot. A 12 weight fly rod with a sink tip line is very humbling. At one point my guide suggested we switch to bait but I don't do bait so we stayed true. I knew what I was getting into but I am a little frustrated. Tarpon are such a majestic fish.
