Another what's one worth?/ look what I bought!
« on: October 11, 2013, 03:14:14 PM »
Mid 5,000 serial number sandcast. Nice condition, no rust or wrecks, low miles, well maintained, 2 owner,  needs rear rim, correct handlebars, cables and brake hose and an oil side sidecover. Candy red. Not for sale yet but I want to be ready.  A price range would be helpful.

$15K to $25K or higher. depends on the bidding frenzy. Or if you service the old widow and buy her a steak dinner, who knows, under $10K for sure but if you offer too much she'll know you're up to something.......
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Nope. Jerry already blew my cover LOL. It might not be the real deal, I'll know this weekend. I was told it is a 70 and I know there were several 750's.

These threads are fun that's for sure. I like the ones where everybody judges a bike that may not be quite right and says it worth xxxxxx which sometimes I think may be high and if it came down to that person pulling out the cash  the end may be different.
As for your Sandie I think there is enough info out there where you pretty much know where you stand on one of those unless your the lucky guy to discover it first lingering away in its silent slumber  ;)

If it is the sandie, I've got the goods to make an offer. The first po bought it new, the second PO worked on the bike since new and he ran a shop. The bike was his buddies, he got it from a widow as I hope to rom his. I won't know until I get there if it's the one. There was a stock class drag bike, it ran within .002 of the national record way back when.  It could be that one too.

You know all those posts about what's it worth and should I buy it that always end in, it got away or it wasn't what it was supposed to be. Well not this time. I got in a bidding war and paid too much but I bought the sandy. And a drag bike. The sandy is in my truck in my driveway. pics coming cause it did happen. Drag bike deal goes down next week.

Yes congrats. Sounds like you are on a roll Don. Like the other am anxious to see the pics of the one that did not get away. Be interesting to hear the story, was it at a local auction or something or another type of bidding war.

Yes, it was a local auction. The owner was a Honda guy from day one he didn't send in the title so I guess technically it's a one owner. The bike guys kept looking for the neck tag and couldn't find the year or build date. They didn't figure it out. I bid against a couple guys. One hung in with me was a bike buyer/seller. We talked about sandcasts but he didn't spot it as one. It got titled as a 70 but its a 10055xx serial nimber.

I'm going to make it as correct as I can with the parts I have and can locate. I'm not going to do any more than it wants. Aside from the obvious it's pretty original.
I'll most likely start a build thread so I can get some coaching from you guys.
#1 question do I wash it? Bwahahah. It appears pitted but a little spit on the finger and there's smooth and shiney underneath.  8,??? miles.

You forgot the cafe option like the jerks on TV did.

I will clean it up. Carefully. I've had my 70 diecast to practice on and my brother gave me 2 junk 70's that I took apart for pieces. No restoration other than bolting the original/correct things back where they were. I might have to sell a nother bike to get an exhaust. Dang. Might have to sell one anyway.

It looks like it should clean up very nicely and have just enough patina to make it a very good honest and rare survivor. Only original once.
Here's a plastic chain guard, says its a shorty but being a Sandie it probably needs something that is different than this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Honda-CB750-K0-KO-Sandcast-H755-short-chain-guard-cover-protector-2-/350897694841?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b321e879&vxp=mtr#ht_1880wt_754

Thanks, I have one on the diecast but that one looks nicer. The price isn't too bad but after my spending spree today I need to lay low for a while.
