Time to get started. I removed the tank and gave it a quick polish. Nothing heavy.
But speaking of heavy there is quite a bit of rust inside. Greggo, the fill spout is to small for golf balls. I'll have to figure out something else.
I removed the valve tappet covers and it was as clean as a whistle! Very dry but super clean. I soaked the rockers and springs with some Marvel as well as the cylinders. Carburetor slides are clean and slide easily. Was surprised but they will get redone none the less. The points are shot.
Hooked up a shop battery and everything works. Horn, headlight, starter etc.
This however was a big surprise. Although titled as a 1969 I do in fact believe this to be a first year 1965. I'll need to research.
