Went back to the DMV this morning to try and get a title for the CB.  This time I got someone that had basic addition and subtraction skills.  I now have a title for the bike.  I guess all that is left is to dump a lot of time and money into the rust bucket and build a respectable cafe racer.

Been working a lot, unfortunately not on the bike.  I have followed a thread to build a C-hook to facilitate removing and installing the engine easily without damaging anything.  I picked up some steel today and am going to pass it along to my buddy who is going to cut it out on a water-jet.  Once done I will post some pics up and if anyone needs to use it they will be more than welcome to it.

If anyone knows of someone local that can do some metal bodywork please pass the info along.  I would like to have my stock tank modified with either some knee dents or turned into a Duntstall tank.  Also looking to have a seat pan made.

I was able to work a little on the bike.  I removed the tank and seat.  Looked inside the tank and it looks to have a failed Kreem coating in it.  There was still about 1/8 tank of gas in it which absolutely stank.  I am sure it has been sitting in there for at least 5 years.  I poured soem MEK in the tank and sloshed it around for a bit and removed the vast majority of it.  Another round or two of the MEK and it should be good to go.  I am fairly certain there is a small leak in the tank so it will have to be re-coated so I am going to go with POR-15.

Well the tank is somewhat junked.  I was able to get all of the failed Kreem coating out of it, but after looking at some pics of others tanks then looking at mine I found out that the PO busted off the petcock and did a very bad job of welding on a piece of internally threaded steel pipe onto it.  Luckily a member here gave me a tank that other than a failed Kreem coating it is in great shape.

I also noticed that the forks on my CB are bent.  Luckily I found a guy from the naked Goldwing forum that is local and he is going to sell me a complete front end from a 75 GL1000 and the rear wheel for $150.   It is basically a direct bolt on.  Some benefits are that I get dual front brakes and it has aluminum wheels vice steel.

I realize I am talking to my self, but who cares.

I picked up the goldwing forks and rear tire this afternoon.  I was also able to wrestle the engine out of the frame and start with the disassembly.  I tested the compression before I removed it and got 110 psi on cylinders 1,3 &4.  Cylinder #2 got 116 psi.  I realize that might not be the the ideal 150psi as talked about, but I was using the kick starter without any exhaust or carbs on it.  I figure since they are all pretty close I should be good.

Once I got the engine on the bench I was able to get things taken apart down to the cylinders.  If there was an external opening I think a dirt dobber made its way into it and built a nest.

So does anyone have Hondaman's book?  I would love to get one, but to me the cost is so steep.  If not maybe we could pool our resources and get one.

Well it is spring so hopefully I might see a few of you out and about.  My build has slowed down a bit due to having to save up funds to move forward.  However, I did just send Hondaman my swingarm to get rebuilt.  After I got the bearings out I took some measurements and my tube was a little oval shaped so I figured it would be best if I had him cut a set of bearings. 

I also ordered the powder coat powder which should be here Monday and I am dropping off my rotors today to a buddy that works as a machinist at  NASA Langley.  He is going to turn them and then drill some holes for me.  I really want one of Whiteorbs seatpans, but he is slow to reply lately.

Let me know if anyone wants to meetup and shoot the #$%* or go for a ride.

OK another question for the locals.  Does anyone have a ball hone that will work on the 750's that I can borrow?  I need to do a light hone before I put my engine back together.

Anyone interested in a 77 750K?  He has broken it down to the bare frame and major components, but has lost interest.  It has a clear VA title.  I have a friend that would sell it to me for a good price but would charge others more.
