Cafe Racer
« on: November 14, 2013, 04:58:33 AM »
Last night on Cafe Racer they took an extremely nice CB550 four, cut it up, put in a 500cc Ninja motor and made a cafe out of it.  I never understand why they cut up nice original bikes.  Why not cut up a junk bike?  There are plenty of them out there.

Yeah, I saw an other episode where they cut of a real nice 70 cb750.  They took a wrinkle tank and cut it up to make it cafe with knee in dents.  I was screaming at the tv.

Yes I watched two idiots cutting up a Z900 with a grinder and sledgehammer on café racer. They were making a Moto-Martin to sell for charity. They could have sold the rest of the Z900 and put the money into the charity as well!! What a waste

I think it would make for better TV if they started with a total piece of junk then transformed it into a butterfly instead of using a nice example.

I would disagree Magilla. The 550 was rough as can be. That was a parts bike or a runner if someone would put the time in. It was a different kind of build. Also in regard to the 70 750. The episode actually made 2.... We only saw one on the show..... Look up Green Jeans thread as he has it documented as it's his buddies 750 now.

I like the rough starting points, so much better. The first seasons of overhauling were like that, then they started doing already decent cars and celebrity stuff. Who cares if you are a b-list celeb now, still better than average joe usually.

It makes you wonder if those bikes were not fixed up before the show. Then had their way with it. Just to piss guys like us off. It seems like a lot of reality shows are not to real.

I don't mind the show.  Its nice to be able to sit down and drink a beer or two and see bikes on t.v. that I don't get to see otherwise.

I discovered the Velocity channel, I like it better than Speed.   I scan the program guide and DVR stuff, like the TT Isle of Mann race, What's in the Barn, and Cafe Racer.
I like  What's in the Barn because the guy has a real appreciation for proper restorations.

OK not trying to side track... But are the Crocodile Dundee movies looked at as funny or a cult classic like the Mad Max movies down under?

dundee is watchable,no way a cult movie status, hogans old comic tv shows wernt bad,hes not an aussie now, neither is mel gibson anyway, australia isnt like it was in those times, more american slang becoming normal etc, heres an example of old aussie slap stick comedy.
