I have always thought the throttle return spring was stronger than necessary (1972 750K2) if everything was kept clean and lubed. As a mechanical engineer I know what they were thinking. They wanted to make sure it closed even if the cables were dirty or frayed or frozen water in them or cables misrouted. I finally got around to measuring the stock spring. .06" dia wire, .5" diameter, 2.35" free length and 7.21 pounds per inch deflection. Lee Springs has a spring that is .5" diameter (same) and 2.25" free length ( tad less), .055 STAINLESS wire and 6.1 pounds per inch of deflection. The maximum length is 4.2" so that is fine. Lee Spring # LE 055E 05 S. I thought great. The price was $7.35 each. Great!--- until I saw it was 10 minimum. Since I can't be sure if this will be perfect I really don't want to spend $73.50 for one spring. I think I keep my cables lubed where I could get by with a spring rate of 5 pounds per inch but I did not want to go too light. The next weakest spring of this size that would work is only 3.3 pounds per inch deflection. Anyone interested in buying one spring if I order? Thoughts?Dan
