electronic ignition
« on: January 09, 2014, 05:22:47 PM »
Hello:
I am building a cb 400f for vintage roadracing with a big bore kit and a lumpy cam.  What would everyone buy for an ignition?  Has anyone built one and have any helpful hints?  Thanks it is my first modified engine build I have done by myself

Welcome Dave, hopefully you're racing this bike with us in the VRRA? Are you planning to maintain a charging system or running total loss ignition?

You can surely use the points trigger system mentioned, or there are several electronic options. You might want to contact member specweld here, or Kevin ttr400.com about ignitions. Both have race experience. Kevin mentions using a Boyer Bransdon unit on his site. I'm not sure if a PVL system is available as another option also.

Hope to see you at Shanny for the first round.
