oil leak 1977 550F
« on: March 11, 2014, 08:15:20 AM »
I have a whispy oill leak.  It is high up on the right side.  The oil appears to be coming from the left at the outside of the area where you insert the spark plug when you screw it into the head.  The oil is not leaking form the plug area but appears to be in front of and above the plug area.  I replaced the o ring under the tappet to no avail.  The bike runs great but the left has a pretty good coating of oil on the outside of the engine covering all the fins.some oil will also be on the lower cover after a ride of a couple of hours.  Ned some suggestions I am at a loss.

its normal vith a minimal leak
..have not seen a total dry 550.
. but the problem are o ring and puch#s( rubber disces )vho closes cast /holes /pin bolts holes.. left from produktion,, and oil main gallery goes to the top of engine sealed by small o rings. passing cylender block./ head.vho not can do the job 100%
its not head gasket who leaks..but the o rings not seal prober
