Hey Dennis, the next time you put the bike on a dyno, make sure they include the torque curve on the print-out.

Scotty, agreed..............and I lowered the air-pressure in the rear tire to get a more accurate reading ;)  We will do another dyno-run after the airbox is completed..........with options to run with or without ram-air and different filter choices. After we get the air-ducts to work, we have to make a new gas-tank with a minimum capacity of 5-liters.

SPEED...................MORE SPEED ;D ;D ;D

The current record is 125 or 130-mph. From the beginning of this quest, I have always thought that getting to the mid-150s was the challenge due to the altitude and the somewhat soft track conditions. Several 762cc motors (considered legal for 750cc racing classes) have registered those speeds at road-race courses somewhat close to sea-level. IF..........IF this motor performs as planned, and IF the ram-air is effective, my personal goal is 161-mph ;D ;D ;D ;D

The practice dyno-run indicated 158-mph :) :) Should all things work as planned, I have multiple sprocket sizes to test the limits of what the motor will do. Because of the 2400-rpm drop from 4th to 5th-gear, I have a larger counter-shaft sprocket ready to match with the smallest rear sprocket and try a run in 4th...........but only if needed.

A lot of very smart people have calculated how much horsepower is needed to get a bike up to a certain speed.  Recent speeds by a few competitors are exceeding those calculated limits due to reduced drag and improved traction. A contributing ram-air system is measured at an extra 5 or more HP at speeds of 150-mph or higher. One of those current record holders has added more than 40-lbs. of lead to his swing-arm.............so his total weight is about equal to mine. Maybe I don't need to lose any more weight ;) ;) ;)

Its all good conversation when Bonneville is the topic ;)

ok cool i just felt sorta weird talkin bout my lil ragamuffin in your thread Dennis..

the fairing i bought is Airtech, its the *Turnip Eater*..Harley KR750 short circuit..the bike is sitting up high at the moment,i wanted to see how much suspension travel i had,you can see the zip ties on the fork tubes,i was pulling it down with ratchet straps, and i can safely get away with lowering the front end..the front wheel is a GS500 Suzuki 17 inch, and the fender is from a old Honda Hurricane 600,the first years..as you can see she is a multicolored explosion of cobbiness at the moment haha.

I wont be winning any bike show awards with this thing...but its structurally sound,i know its stable, and i am not worried about being Mr.Style at Bonneville..hopefully i will have time to shoot some paint on it,if not,oh well.

I had a new cam made, and my exhaust pipe stuff should be here in a couple days(im making a slightly larger tube header)..
THis is my 5th trip to Bonneville, every year is try to squeeze a tad more out of it,this will probably be my last time with this set up,normally aspirated..that little turbo needs to go on it but i just wanted to see what i could make it do with no turbo first..

Hopefully i can at least lay down a semi respectable run considering what it is,it went 118 last year..

mounting a one piece fairing is a pain in the ass,it does not come off easily.the windshield didnt fit worth a poop,i thought i was doing something wrong but it didnt fit the contour of the fairing well at all,had to take a sander to it..looks good now..

the Aussie flag sticker came from my Aussie buddies,i have another from Maramusu racing(some Japanese Harley guys)...i pull up next to them in line and point at it,they just laugh and give me thumbs up..

anyway heres a couple more pics of ole Ragamuffin, hell i might get someone to paint a raggedy man on it if i get the urge lol

White fairing Joe ?
you might get lost out on the lake :o no one will find you.
What do you reckon Dennis ? I think he should paint it a nice colour.................say something MELLOW and YELLOW    ;D ;D ;D ;D

What about a big tongue on the front of the fairing like Rolling Stones concert tour logo.,  eat salt for breakfast baby,
Go on Joe,  were all getting old quickly ....feel young and do something crazy man , cut loose and live for the moment..

We want a radical paint job ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The fairing alone should get you another 5 to 10 mph.................my paint usually comes from a rattle-can..........and drys on the way ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

A new visitor is expected at Bonneville..............the neighbor-kid that I sold my 1969 sandcast CB750 to in 1971.........He now lives in Idaho and plans to look me up in Wendover 8) 8) 8)...........No, he sold the K0 many years ago and left it in LA.............with extended forks and a 4-1 header.
