It's alive !! It started right-up yesterday on the shop bottle. I ran it at 2,500 rpm for several minutes, made sure the oil pressure came up and stayed, then verified timing was spot on in both 850 and 2,500+ rpm.
Terry, I upgraded the lines to stainless, I have not yet installed the chrome K&N since I want to do 100 miles then dump the fluids and the painted filter. The adapter is a work of art and works perfectly. I trimmed the cooler in aluminum plate, added some rubber dampers, and 2 more mount collars. It's fit was tight, but it fit nicely under the stock horn and leaves me 3/8" of clearance above the large-diameter Kerker pipes. I'm very pleased. This 836 should live on for a long time without suffering from any heat related failures.
Thanks to all who've contributed with ideas, experience, enthusiasm, and motivation. Mike Rieck, a special thanks to you for the long conversations on the phone and many inputs of advice.
I'll post a before and after when the painted bodywork gets back this weekend. This was a bike my wife asked me to please take to the dump.
Best Regards,
Gordon
