im having a hard time finding a true answer to my question here. is it possible to run the 1980 cb650 carbs on a 1981 cb650? if not, does anyone know somebody that has a set off of a 1982?

From what I remember the intake port on the head changes size when the cb650 carbs change to the CV carbs, so if you have the early years you can switch between those years. If they are late model CV's you can only use those model years. I'm pretty sure you can put a 82-83 head on a 79-80 bottom end to get the late model carbs on an early model motor but that's another can of worms.

" 82-83 head on a 79-80 bottom end"  not 83.  81-82.     Not a can of worms.  bolts on.

Can of worms as in a lot of work to just switch to a different year of carbs, I'd rather just rebuild a set of carbs. If your going to pull the head then you might as well re ring etc etc while your in there.
