Martek 440 documentation needed
« on: September 19, 2006, 04:19:48 PM »
Anyone with the installation docs for the Martek 440 around?  My 750F has the thing installed, but I don't have any paperwork on it, and can't seem to find anything on the web about it.

I know someone out there has it :)  Just need to get a scan of it or something - pretty please?

And when they do Glenn, et al needs to include it in this site for reference.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Ditto that!
I have searched to no avail for ANY sort of documentation regarding a Martek 440 elec. ignition.
It is installed, works fine, etc.  But do I have the timeing set correctly?  I don't know?
The index mark on it is lined up with the Timing mark on the breaker plate,
but I just want some info on this "little black box"
When found, can it be in the ignition FAQ?
thanks!!

I've got it, I'll post it when I get home. For Juggy, your assumption "The index mark on it is lined up with the Timing mark on the breaker plate" is correct, and there's no requirement to adjust it with a timing light.

The Martek 440S was self contained and there was no black box, but I believe that the later Marteks had ignition amplifiers, (black boxes) but I doubt if there was any adjustment required, I'd imagine it'd be the same as the amplifier on the Dyna 3.

I've got several Marteks and they're quite good, in their day they were rated very highly indeed and were very expensive compared to the Dyna S. The Martek in my F2 has outlived 2 CB750's and it'll be coming out before I sell that bike. Just be very very careful about accidentally connecting the power wire to a signal wire, if you do, you'll fry the module! (as I did on my GS750 ignition, boohoo!) Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry

email a hi-res version to me or Glenn and we'll put it in the library (and maybe the FAQs)
