I am with Brian and Frank on crankshafts not being considered consumables, drag racing or not.

FYI At the Big Show T/F & FC nitro level, cranks are indeed consumables. 8 runs and they're gone. Works out to about $500/run depreciation...  :o

Probably should have qualified that. Was really referring to the kind of racing us po folk do.

I know everything in the TF and Pro classes is consumable. Most of them have serious sponsors and can afford it.

I have a keith Black cast Hemi block that was a consumable. There's a hole you can stick your arm through and several welded windows from previous nitro calamaties. It was in Butch Blairs Fugowie Fueler. In reality any race part is a consumable. Sooner or later it's a goner either from breakage or preventative maintainance.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

John Sands used to do some of my machine work since he was only 45 minutes from me.  He had tons of broken DOHC parts laying around the shop. Had some hi po SOHC parts to but I wasn't able to get my hands on them.

Good morning Billy!

Regarding the Cycle-X road-racer; About a year ago Ken sold the bike to someone in Ireland.

What happen to the TOP GAS bike ????  SOHC running those numbers would be like Gladstone running 227 mph on a modern day DOHC bike ...... a site to see.

And it runs Super Street a old time class of 10.90 bikes. I wonder how you would wick up a Automatic in low and not pull thru the lights on boost.  Wick it up on boost in neutral and on last yellow you kick it in low = I'll pay to see That Pass. It could be like a throttle stop bike that pulls off slow and when the boost comes on = HANG ON !!!  Really like that bike so maybe I will see a 10 second Hondamatic make that pass on the 1320'.  That and a SOHC HONDA Cycle X Drag Bike running 8.20 in the 1320' or 5.10 in the 1/8 would be something, right FRANK ?

Dang Pops, you and I are thinking the same way on that turbomatic bike. Would really like to see some old time slips to figure where they're picking up all that ET. It could be a reworked converter but I've never seen anyone even figure out how to get a slider and a turbo to work right.
