1975 CB750F's
« on: July 09, 2014, 09:27:19 AM »
Hey there!

New to the forum and wanted to first say howdy!

So I just bought another 1975 CB750F on Monday and started going through it last night.  I am already the proud owner of a 1974 CB200 and what I THOUGHT was a 1975 CB750K (that was what I was told and since it was a project bike, I never bothered to look.)  It turns out the other CB750 I have is also and F.  That's what happens when you buy three motorcycles in a day and then dump them in your garage :)

To the point - does anyone have an idea as to how many Supersports were made in 1975? I was looking at the VIN plates and it turn out that my VINs are 119 numbers apart, both manufactured in January of 1975!! O_O  Maybe not that big of a deal, but I thought it was pretty cool that they would both end up in the same garage!

Anyway, I will have lots of questions coming y'alls way down the line, so thanks ahead of time! :)

-Chris

The top picture looks like the mix of a 78 and 75. Wheels, rotors, seat and tank are 78, frame, exhaust(beautiful), headlight, rear master mounting plate, turn sigs, taillight, front fender, and engine all look 75.

Good eye Hon3ybadger!  78 tank and seat for sure, wheels are Comstar and will be coming off VERY shortly (I have the original ones).  I have yet to decide what I will do with the seat, but I know for sure that I will be redoing the tank to make it correct for the year.  My other CB is shortly getting some GSXR750 forks and will be a fully built up "cafe racer" but I really want to keep this thing original.

Thanks 70CB750! Mine is a fairly early 75 model according to that, but I wonder how many total were made?

Are you going with original paint codes and decals on the stocker?

I too have a '75 F with a "1" frame number (not sure of the whole thing off my head). According to the link shared above, '75 F bikes were sold from April-October of that year before the '76 model took over.

The new bike looks great and while it is not all correct for the year, all the components look to be in great shape. Congrats on the buy!

My assumption was USA, but I didn't realize that Honda had various schemes for the '75 model in different markets...

1975 - Blue or Orange; 1976 - Yellow or Red; 1977 & 1978 - Maroon or Black

I guess that I am wrong? Please tell me more Retro as the history intrigues me.

Decisions, decisions....

Does anyone have a recommendation for where I can find production numbers? I would love to know how many of these things were made for the US.
