from cardboard boxes to a cb750

Well.. I was "lucky" to come a cross a project at the quarter of the cost of a running bike.
Story behind this was that the guy had 6 other projects and this one had stalled and he needed to get it out of sight.

The fist goal here now is to get it running, and getting plates on it. Goal is March for the plates with a running motor.
Then to see if it will get modified in any way or passed on for new projects.

the worst thing about this project is.. its summer and I have two bikes with engines open...

I think this is the best way to really learn the ins and outs of your CB.  The first motorcycle I ever had came just like yours.  I sorted through the parts,
picked the best looking of the parts and put it together following my trusty manual.

Good progress - at least with a roller, it looks like a motorcycle.  Keep it going.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

You would be very wise to install a frame kit now. It will make install, service, and future removal a lot easier! Especially, if upon assembly, you discover  a problem in the top end.

So today I put on the gauges... And rear fender...

I also found out that the cheap paint remover I got works wonders.. So it seems I can get this project done even cheaper

I am missing alot of bolts so.. Its slow getting there...

Things slowed down abit.. and I am getting back into the groove..

I started to move into a new facility, with more people to hang out with in the garage.

I moved onto the engine... I have some rust issues with the crank bearings...

since this all came from cardboard boxes... I am missing afew parts here and there.... so one rebuild to check for all parts then .. a proper one....

Now that's the true meaning of a bike in a box ;D How did you find this assortment of goodies and how did you know it was all there to make a complete bike. Must of been a super deal for you to go that route. Good luck KB and I'll been watching this thread as you progress.

What year did they call it? I see 72 headlight ears, 71 taillight, 73 or later motor....nice combination actually.

Go Kirk, I bought a pallet load of parts with lots missing, but it's slowly turning into a bike.
Keep at it a little each day and you'll have a bike before you know it.
The blokes here are the brains trust, any questions will be answered.
You'll know the bike inside and out.

The guy said he was making a k2, but then again.. I dont plan on making a period correct one as of now.

the Frame is a k2 ... new harness is a k2...  engine atleast the serial number is a 73 I think..

it was imported from Sweden to Norway in parts so.. I guss I will be missing afew.

I will be trying to update as much as possible here, cause I will have questions never done a lower end rebuild before

I have slowly started to inspect the parts that i have... Finding alot of rust in parts of the engine and some wear on the gears... And there seems to be missing som bearing retainers...

So I have been going back and forth to the shop... and it seems I have managed to find almost all the parts that I need.

I feel the need to replace the golden parts, so there will have to be some shoping.

so to do something productive I honed the cylinders,
Hopefully within this week I will have gone to the machineshop to get some plasticgauge.

and the question is.. replace the rod connector bolts or not...

And I need to figure out a way to tackle a crank rod bearing that is rusted all away...

Please make sure that you have the correct size spacer washer in the tube clamp area on your upper tree so that fragile part does not crack, may be expensive to replace over there  ;)

they have some ugly wear and rust and disintegration ..

the spesification on the crankshaft was ABAAA 13333

There is wear but not like the wear on the bearing... I doing this for the first time so feedback is nice

Get it polished at an engine machine shop, get it mic'd and check to make sure it's within the allowance in the manual. The bearing grades/tolerances are pretty tight, not much room to take out gouges. That looks like an awful lot of scoring (but it's always difficult to judge that by pic).

So I finely got around to the workshop...

I got these pictures after I cleaned it with the degreaser, so.. some polishing needs to be done or.. its time to source something new.

or.. I could go about and move the crank from my other bike, and get a racing one from Ape or Cyclex or something..
