Awesome, I made a shelf unit for my honda stuff. Engines on the bottom two spaces and totes from there up, Didn't spend a penny on it, all scrap and left overs.

I did have to buy a saw but needed one anyway all wood was scrap, so I'm with ya. Cheap sturdy shelves/workbenches are the best. OK I lied I bought some screws also.

I like working scrap piles, I built barn gambrel trusses out of a bunch of bunks that were thrown out at a frat house.

Lately I find this guy on Craigslist who sometimes has  a BUNCH of 2x6 from construction cleanup and he runs a clandestine  lumberyard.  I got overloaded  on 2x6 for $70.

It's a friend's 40 by 60. I had that space but I had to promise to finish the trusses  without dottling. I keep  bikes and projects there.  Really good to do those out of the weather, especially using glues.

I hope that guy stays in stock of what I need next project.  Getting all your materials from trash just isn't  dependable  for project scheduling, and $70 price for a load like that is the true chrstian thing  to do with unreturnable wood.  He and his wife always seem to say god bless after a transaction.  I sure hope I saved his number so I know what he has before I drive up top see him.

Now that I have this great workbench I think I need a bigger shed. Something big enough to put a woodstove in and work on bikes in the winter.

Ha, bigger shop space is something I need as well. The first bench in the pic above was used right away and I ran out of workspace right as the engine landed on it. So I ended up building two more in my basement, fit one with a vice grip and bench buffer while the other is just to hold all the crap from the project in one place.

Ha Ha, that whiskey soaked SOB. I did have two similar pics but thought that was the better of the two. I took the picture months ago, and sent it back to him last night.

Did you ever see what goes in trash containers while they are building a subdivision?  It would make you sick, you could build a house from all that wasted material.

Lots of construction going on in my area. I just might inquire about their cast offs.

No Kidding. One of the frat houses here re-did their whole exterior. I noticed some of the high priced plastic deck wood, about a 20x40 area, covered, 2x6 framing and waited to ask the next day if it was going. By the time I got there it was smashed into a huge trash hauler.
