Yes but fortunately for the Japauto & even the Egli you get a better chance when  you're in France.

What is a "normal" price range for bikes like yours?
Maybe better to visit France for a bike instead for Germany looking for an Audi RS6:)

I don't think the  frame in the add is a real Egli frame



I own three Egli SOHC frame, and I have seen some other genuine example

and they are different.

As mine have  been appraised and acknowledge by Fritz Egli, I have good reasons to think so.

For example the headstock welding is not the same et the engraving is not correct by far.

I will not disclose why on the forum for obvious reasons. So beware of imitations.

The CBX Egli is a great frame but I will not trade a SHOC frame for it.

The Egli SHOC is the only Egli frame to have achieved  international racing success.

Godier / Genoud won the 1972 european endurance racing championship on an Egli SOHC frame.

As I have been asked on another forum what difference there is with a stock 750 CB , here is some more information

On their first 950cc engine Japauto used an OEM engine block together with a rebored OEM cylinder block.

That was enough to win the Bol d'Or in 1972 and 1973 but was a little too "crude" for road use with too much oil leaks.

So in 1974 they started working on a carefully rebored engine block and a new cylinder block casting made by JPX with special pistons by Bretille (see second photo)

The engine became both powerful ( 85/100hp for road use depending on the exhaust and carbs) & reliable.

On this photo you can see the original Honda CB cylinder block ( center) the first 950 SS cylinder block ( left) and the 1000 VX cylinder block (right) as well as the three corresponding pistons. 





The engine look is very different with the JPX cylinder block

It was just a thought as we have a member on here who worked there, he was responsible for reproducing the batch of RC174 six cylinder motors for George Beal a few years back.

Yes Sam it is the same company.
Here is a replica of the Japauto with PEM frame they entered in the 1974 Bol d'Or to showcase their products:
Japauto engine parts, mag wheels, special Teflon sprocket for duplex chain etc...
I did get a JPX teflon sprocket as spare for the Japauto.




Amazing story about the Honda RC 174, now I understand why the JPX block quality on the Japauto became a legend

I bought a 1982 CB900F SUPER SPORT BOL D'OR from a retired service man who bought this bike in GERMANY and had it sent back home to Columbus, OHIO = I bought it from his family for $1,100  w/20,000 miles on speedo and we ride it weekly.

For Japauto fans, here's another that I stumbled upon last week in a car museum in  Brittany, a 1500/6 version. It's fair to say that the styling is distinctive.

Doesn't look like a JJPX apauto cylinder block to me. AFAIK the JPX was the only special cylinder block Japauto made either for street or racing. ???

Japauto AFAIK never made any engine or body kit for the CBX 1000 but the name is so famous that a lot of people use it for  their own transformation.
 If such a bike was existed it would be well known and discussed in the Japauto club in France which is not the case. ???

The seat unit is a BMW R100RS single seat from the 1976 - 1985 era bikes. Completely standard in this pic except for the paint, obviously!

I know I am bias but the cylinder fin spacing doesn't look good on those cylinders. We had one when my partner and I designed my cylinder.
