cb750a gas tank disassembly / assembly
« on: September 05, 2014, 04:19:04 PM »
Hi guys, I am sure some of you have come across this when doing your bikes.  I was wondering if there is a good way to disassemble and in turn re-assemble the gas tank. More specifically the gas gauge part of it, on the right in the pictures.

Rotate the locking ring, and it will come right out.
1978 CB750A (upgrading very, very slowly)

Past bikes - Honda: SL350, CX650C, CB900C, CB1000C, CM450A; Kawasaki: several 1972 750 H2's; Suzuki: TC90J.

Bikes I want: CX650ED, a mid-sized japanese V-twin with ABS.

Is there a good way to re-assemble? I took it apart the other day, without the 50mm lock nut wrench that the book suggests because i dont want to spend $75 on a tool i will only use 1 or 2 times.  Thanks for the speedy reply!

I've always just tapped it back on with a small hammer....
