Tube Size vs Tire Size
« on: September 22, 2014, 06:01:06 PM »
Howdy,

Made an order from American MotorCycle Tire and they shipped me the wrong front tire tube. its been a few weeks since the order, but i had to get the wheels all sorted before i wanted to mount them on. anyway the issue that I have is that the Tube Size is smaller than the Tire Size. Tire is an 19, while the tube is a 17. However the tube fits well into the tire. see image below, and advise on what to do?

Yes, unless you have a tire machine.  I pay a guy $20 to do it, worth every penny in my book.

Installing tire is easy.  Save $20 and spend on other parts

i was told not to use the lube because it stays inside and can rust the wheel? baby powder was the alternative?

That's true if it's only soapy water or some other caustic type liquid, but I use Murphy's tire bead lube which is good for the rubber and it's a paste so it won't run down onto your rim/spokes.

I use RU Glyde, works well.  The wheel rust - the exposure to water from rain is much bigger than one time only mounting, I certainly don't worry about that.
