A Mechanic where I originally had my carburetors repaired says coils are bad- but they ohm the same( 8 ohms where plugs enter and ohm 40k at low voltage small wire attachments. ( according to "Commercial Electric" brand analog M1015b model multimeter)  Green scale ( ohms scale) read at x10 adjustment. Reading is 8 ohms where the spark plugs attach on the coils  and reads 14ohms across the small low voltage screws. The mechanic diagnosed the coils as the problem however a "CLOSE VISUAL INSPECTION"  revealed that there was 1 dirty or bad connection at 1 of the spark plug attachment connections. inside the spark plug connection hole. I subsequently cleaned the contact point and ohmed the coils and re-installed the coils. At that point I was able to start the motor with ether spray assist but only for a short time and at very high rpms. The motor was missing badly and wouldn't run at lower rpm's. The original problem was a bad choke on the carbs and the bike took me home from the mechanic's shop however stalled at a traffic light and was missing during the drive home. I barely made it home.  The spark looks weak when a screwdriver is inserted in the plug wire and grounded at the motor.
According to these clues--what could be my starting/running problem? Thanks
