Head gasket: Cometic or Cycle-X?
« on: October 14, 2014, 09:31:06 AM »
I'm in the market for parts and would appreciate some advice on gaskets, specifically the head gasket. I've read enough here to know that Verseh and other 'economy' brands probably aren't worth the time or money spent on them... But there are two MLS-type gaskets that keep coming up--Cometic and Cycle-X--and that tend to get better reviews. Are they pretty much the same? Other than $18?

The plural of "anecdote" is not "data" (Borgmann 2002:5).

I can across a company called ottoco that also sells mls head gaskets for the cb750. They were at the barber vintage fest.   their mls gakset looked identical to the one I got From a well known supplier.

The surfaces (head and cylinder) must be really good, no scratches and flat for a MLS.
If not perfect surfaces a cometic fiber will do the job.

I've heard people race yamabond  without a headgasket.  More squish zone without it.
