The '78-79 uses the Comstar wheels and the spacing is different. You can't just bolt up the 75-77 Goldwing wire wheels to a '78-'79 setup. You can use the front end, it just requires extra work.

The 78-79 have different wheel spacing with the Comstars.  I think the brakes may have different offset, too, but I am not sure.

small update mono shock conversion is finished and some is the gl1000 front end bike is rolling again. All brackets will be dressed up better soon i literally wanted to get it rolling again so i can work out the next stages of the build

The rear hoop design was changed i removed the old shock mounting points and notched the swing arm to take the hoop, i then made two solid steel plugs in the lathe for the base of the hoop (picture below) which i puddle welded and seam welded together to give a good solid base to weld it to the swing arm.
